Re: Upcoming Work Parties
Mon, November 14, 2005 - 5:36 AMFine. If it's going to be that sort of thread (not THAT sort!) then I invite the tribe over to help clean up the Burning Man detritus that is STILL lying around my place! It's embarrassing! -

Re: Upcoming Work Parties
Tue, November 15, 2005 - 6:20 PMWe have a geotensic dome that needs a lot of work before Burning Man. If we can find a REALLY BIG SPACE, maybe we could work on both domes. -

Re: Upcoming Work Parties
Tue, November 15, 2005 - 10:17 PMwe can do this at a beach somewhere. doesn't have to be all the way down in SC, but that's our best bet. otherwise, the panhandle in the city could work...

Re: Upcoming Work Parties
Tue, November 15, 2005 - 10:31 PMThe only issue is, and I'm sure you will find this with your dome as well, that its really heavy, and difficult to transport. Also, its a pain to assemble and disassemble. So a location where we could build and store it would be ideal. But aside from that, the beach or the panhandle would work out just fine. When do you want to start your project? -

Re: Upcoming Work Parties
Wed, November 16, 2005 - 10:27 AMwhile the sun is out :)
actually, this dome isn't that heavy. it's all pvc and parachute. not something i could carry on my back, but not all metall 400 pieces :)
damn - looking at my schedule, i don't have time to do this until dec 17 weekend. i assume we want a weekend to do this? i'm not a 9-5er but i know other (poor, poor) people are. if we can do this in the middle of the week, i can do it WAY earlier -

Re: Upcoming Work Parties
Wed, November 16, 2005 - 8:11 PMWell, I can help out on and around weekends. I can't do that weekend in december, but could help earlier.
I would much rather do this in the rain and wind. I prefer challenges...:)
How big did you say your dome was? -

Re: Upcoming Work Parties
Thu, November 17, 2005 - 12:58 AMI have the sort of semi-scheduled life where if you posted the time and date here, I just might be able to show up and jump in! Which sounds like fun to me, as long as it doesn't sound intrusive or counter-productive to you guys...

Re: Upcoming Work Parties
Mon, November 28, 2005 - 3:40 PMi realized i never answer that question. all the poles are 10' long. it should be about 20-24' in diameter, i think. not sure...
rain and snow sounds perfect. perhaps in the nude?
i guess this'll have to wait until we have sun again, although the east bay has been nice and warm until today.... -

Re: Upcoming Work Parties
Tue, November 29, 2005 - 9:19 AMI don't have anything that needs building, but I follow directions well. Consider me in as "minion". ; )
Weekends for me are bad. Weekdays better.Oh, and I prefer, in the snow, rain, sleet and cold, naked and BLINDFOLDED.
